Polycarbonate Plastic
Back to
Sheets
Polycarbonate plastic is a thermoplastic that has excellent
high-impact strength over a wide temperature range. Polycarbonate
can come in the form of general-purpose molding, extruded grade, or
several special grades such as flame retardant or blow molding
grades.
- Polycarbonate plastic is
characterized by excellent toughness, transparency, heat and
flame resistance, and dimensional stability.
- Exposure to very hot or cold
temperatures has very little effect on polycarbonate.
- Polycarbonate is unaffected by
greases, oils and acids.
- Polycarbonate's arc resistance is
lower than most other plastics.
- Some polycarbonate applications
include face plates, telephone finger wheels, meter covers,
computer disk packs, storage modules, power tool housing, grills
for fans and air conditioners, indoor/outdoor lighting
diffusers, exit signs, safety helmets, safety and prescription
eyeware, blood oxygenators, boat hatch covers, and door/window
hardware.
